Steps to Make Black Forest Cake in a Glass
Step 1: Bake the Chocolate Cake
- Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F) and line a 24×24 cm baking tray with parchment paper.
- Mix the flour, cocoa powder, and baking powder in a bowl.
- Beat the eggs and sugar with a mixer until the mixture doubles in volume in another bowl.
- Fold in the flour mixture gently, then add the melted butter.
- Pour the batter into the baking tray and bake for 25 minutes. Use a skewer to check if it’s done—if it comes out clean, the cake is ready. Let it cool completely.
Step 2: Prepare the Cherries
- Drain the cherries, leaving the juice behind.
- Combine the cherry juice in a saucepan with sugar and kirsch liqueur, and cook while stirring until it is reduced by one-third.

- Shave the chocolate into curls with a peeler.

Step 4: Assembly of the Dessert
- Spoon a layer of whipped cream to the bottom of each glass.
- Add a spoonful of cherries and a small drizzle of syrup.
- Add some chocolate curls, and then top with a small round piece of chocolate cake.
- Continue with layering, and end it off with a thin layer of cream on top.
- Chill for at least 2 hours before serving.
